Rudraksha Jaap Mala is a traditional prayer mala made from natural Rudraksha beads and is widely used for mantra chanting (japa), meditation, and spiritual practices. Rudraksha is especially associated with Lord Shiva in Hindu tradition. A standard Jaap Mala commonly contains 108 beads plus one Guru/Meru bead, although the bead count can vary by product.

Traditional Benefits:

  • Commonly used for mantra chanting and meditation.
  • Believed to promote peace, concentration, and positive thoughts.
  • Traditionally associated with Lord Shiva’s blessings and protection.
  • Helps practitioners keep count while completing 108 mantra repetitions.
  • Considered a symbol of spirituality, devotion, and inner strength.
  • Traditionally believed to help protect against negative energies.
  • May help create a disciplined routine for prayer and meditation.

How to Use: Hold the mala in your hand and use one bead for each repetition of your chosen mantra. Traditionally, practitioners begin near the Guru/Meru bead and move through the mala one bead at a time. On reaching the Guru bead again, it is generally not crossed; instead, the mala is turned around if another round is desired.

Mantras: Rudraksha malas are commonly used for chanting “Om Namah Shivaya” and other devotional mantras according to personal spiritual practice.

Where to Keep It: When not in use, keep the mala in a clean and sacred place, such as a puja room, home temple, mala pouch, or prayer box. Avoid placing it directly on the floor.

Best Day to Start: The mala can be used on any day. However, Monday is traditionally associated with Lord Shiva and is often considered an auspicious day to begin using a Rudraksha Jaap Mala.

Care Instructions: Keep the Rudraksha beads clean and handle them gently. Avoid regular exposure to soap, perfume, harsh chemicals, or excessive moisture to help preserve their natural condition.
